Shiso Herb Seeds (Perilla) - Jeok Ssam IP. Heirloom, Non-GMO. Perilla frutescens. 70 days. Warm season annual. This Vietnamese perilla has smaller leaves and a stronger, aromatic flavor than Japanese perilla. The topside of the leaf is deep green and the underside deep red-purple. Often also grown as an ornamental accent in the garden. Traditionally cooked with seafood. ~ 23,300 seeds / oz.

DESCRIPTION

Shiso Herb Seeds (Perilla) - Jeok Ssam IP

Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow by broadcasting seeds in late spring/summer after last frost, in a warm, sunny location. Or sow using the info in the chart. Seeds need light to germinate so cover with a thin soil layer. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Plant is heat tolerant and prefers full sun to light shade. For best germination, seed should be stored at 41°F until planted. Use in shrimp and fish dishes, banh tom, thit heo nau ya ba ba and pickling.
