How to Grow Sugar Pea Microgreens Seeds

Peas make tall microgreens and have large root systems, so we recommend soil as a preferred growing medium. First, soak seeds in cold water for 4-6 hours. Pea seeds soak up a lot of water, so we recommend using plenty of water and a large bowl or container. Don't forget about your soaking seeds or leave them in water for an extended time. Once presoaked, add to a colander and rinse several times with clean, cold water. 

Prepare your soil by tamping gently to flatten. Spread evenly and thickly over the top of the soil (do not bury). Mist thoroughly twice a day. Keep covered with a blackout or humidity dome for the first 2-3 days before exposing to light. Water or mist once a day as needed so the soil is damp, but don't let it go soggy.

To harvest pea microgreens, use kitchen shears to snip them off just above the soil.

"When growing pea microgreens for my family of three, I use simpler methods than my commercial grows. Follow the basic directions by soaking seeds for 4-6 hours, drain and rinse, and then add to soil. I like to use a small barnwood planter for food that doubles as decoration. Cover the seeds with saran wrap for 2-3 days. Then remove saran wrap and place on your windowsill. Harvest fresh as needed."
