How to Grow Water Spinach Kangkong

Sow the seeds when the temperatures are consistently above 55 degrees F, even at night. Plant the seeds in fresh potting soil and keep the growing medium wet at all times. Keep the seeds warm and protect them from temps below 50 degrees F. To speed up germination, you can pre-soak the seeds. In tropical climates, this plant can be cultivated all year round. It is usually recommended to contain water spinach in a pot or lined pond because it can grow quite aggressively in ideal conditions. If your water spinach is growing but not producing many leaves, it may need more sunlight. It is vital to keep the soil wet throughout its life.

Harvesting Water Spinach Kangkong

Water spinach is most frequently harvested with a cut-and-come-again method. Once the plants have bushed out fairly well, you may begin to harvest the leaves and stems. Never cut more than a third of the foliage off at a time if you wish to continue using the same plant. Use a sharp knife, scissors, or pruners to maintain the stems.
