How to Grow Mirai 301 Corn
Mirai 301 Corn is an SH2-type (supersweet type) and should not be planted next to SU (sugary) or S (sugary extended). Required isolation is at least 50 feet from all except SH2. This variety requires careful seedbed preparation. Prepare warm soil, adequate moisture, and careful placement. The seed will not tolerate cold soil, crusting, overwatering, or deep planting. It is light and requires experimentation with planter plates. Plant these in blocks of at least four shorter rows rather than one long row for pollination purposes. Sow seeds in the spring/summer after the last frost (60°F minimum soil temperature). Do not use Accent herbicide.
Keep the soil moist. Fertilize if the plants look pale or have pale veins. For a continuous harvest, plant a new batch of seeds when the first planting peaks through the soil. Maintain the area weed free around the plants to avoid competition. Optionally, seed a ground cover over the bare ground to decrease weeds and retain soil moisture.
Harvesting Mirai Corn
Harvest 21-24 days after silking and hand harvest only; MIRAI® has unusually tender kernels. Firmly but softly grasp the cob and pull downwards to release it from the stalk.
Culinary Tips
Mirai 301 Corn is delicious when grilled, boiled, steamed, or even microwaved.The kernels are enjoyed right on the cob. They can also be removed and added to many dishes, consumed on their own as a side, or blanched and frozen for later use.
