Melon Seeds - Ginkaku - Hybrid

An F1 Ginsen type cross, this hybrid is vigorous and highly productive with a strong resistance to disease. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in late spring/summer after last frost in a warm, sunny location. Or start seeds indoors 2-4 weeks earlier and transplant when weather warms. Hill planting: Form soil into a 1-ft. diameter mound 3-4" tall. Space mounds 4-6' apart. On each mound plant 2-3 seeds. Row planting: See spacing info in chart. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Train to climb a vertical support for better air circulation and ease of harvest or leave to sprawl on the ground. Harvest when the first sign of cracking appears at the base of the melon stem. Eat fresh or in fruit salad.
