Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Warm day temperatures and cool night temperatures are important for good results. This is an early maturing variety and seeds are sown from early May after danger of all frost to late June and harvested from late July to early September in a warm, sunny location. Seeds will rot or fail to germinate if over watered or soaked. Prepare edamame, a traditional Japanese treat, by boiling fresh pods for 3-4 minutes in salted water and serve them as an appetizer. Blanche fresh beans and freeze to store your extra harvest for a winter treat.
